Dominik Paris returns to podium in Lauberhorn downhill

Imposing in the Lauberhorn classic downhill è was Marco Odermatt, with a time of 2’25"64, preceding Frenchman Cyprien Sarrazin by 59 hundredths. Aside from the two star racers, who shared the successes in the long weekend in Wengen, Dominik Paris was back on the podium, third at 1"92 from Odermatt, but once again in the positions that count in the Swiss super classic, as already happened in ’20 (second) and ’22 (third).

This is podium number 45 in his career for the Val d’Ultimo champion, who è returned to show great speed è and precision, after the misstep of the Bormio races. The race è was stopped many times due to numerous falls by the competing athletes, but the one who got the worst of it è was Aleksander Aamodt Kilde, who fell in the final S and went into the nets.

Dominik Paris commented on his third place this way, in the words reported by FISI: ""It’ was tough today, but I knew that you have to grit your teeth to be able to get a result. Too bad for Kilde, maybe he was a bit’ tired. I believe that if there’è was a problem, it wasn’t in his fall but in the way he è entered the nets. It è not optimal to do two descents in the same place, I prefer to go once to the limit instead of two, and that is in no location;. Today, I think I did pretty well at the top and the bottom. I left a little’ too much in the usual Kernen-S. Odermatt and Sarrazin in this moment are doing very well".

Mattia Casse è managed to enter once again the top 10 of the ranking, with a tenth place at 2"99 from the winner: "I lowered my time by almost two seconds, but the others by four. If we look at the gap è very high, yet I tried to push. A couple of mistakes I definitely made, but I can’t explain all this disadvantage. We are all tired after five days of descents, forò Odermatt and Sarrazin are always very fast. We will try again in Kitzbuehel".

Closing 4"31 behind Christof Innerhofer, in the top 20, while è out Florian Schieder, who started with bib number 13.

Paris, with this third place regains two positions in the specialty ranking and rises to third place with 229 points, behind Odermatt with 376 and Sarrazin with 310. In the overall Odermatt surpasses 1,000 points and goes to 1016, distancing all opponents.

For Sunday è the slalom that closes the Swiss program is scheduled: first heat at 10:15 a.m., second at 1:15 p.m.
