Ambrogio Pelagalli, a former soccer player active in the 1960s and 1970s and remembered for his stints with, among others, AC Milan, Roma and Atalanta, passed away Monday at the age of 84. A native of Pieve Porto Moroine, in the province of Pavia, born Feb. 15, 1940, Pelagalli took his first steps in soccer with Dagrada Manzoni, a nursery affiliated with the Rossoneri.

At just 14 years old, he signed his first contract with AC Milan, beginning his sporting association with the Rossoneri club. During the 1961-62 season, he contributed to winning the Scudetto with Milan and, in 1963, was part of the team that won the Champions Cup: an injury, however, prevented him from taking part in the final against Benfica at Wembley.

Pelagalli totaled 235 appearances and 6 goals in Serie A, with 139 games played in Serie B. In AC Milan, he distinguished himself mainly as a midfielder, often alongside Gianni Rivera, but demonstrated versatility by also playing in defense.

His Serie A career continued with experiences with Atalanta and Roma, in Serie B Pelagalli wore the Taranto jersey, and in Serie C that of Piacenza. After retiring from playing soccer, Pelagalli embarked on a coaching career, leading teams such as Derthona in C1 and Oltrepò.
