Jannik Sinner makes Nicola Pietrangeli and Adriano Panatta fight.
Nicola Pietrangeli doesn’t fit
New chapter in the not idyllic relationship between Nicola Pietrangeli, two who made the history of Italian tennis and won many trophies, including the 1976 Davis Cup, with Pietrangeli leading the team that had Panatta as its spearhead.
"I used to do the rankings myself? Panatta’s joke è misplaced" stressed Pietrangeli, host of Un giorno da pecora. "Records are made to be broken, so fair enough,‖ he continued.‖ I want to say one thing once and for all: some time ago I was accused of saying that Sinner would need two lifetimes to break all my records. Here, I never said that, I just wanted to explain that it è impossible numerically to beat one, the Davis Cup one".
"The others on the other hand of course you can beat them, he is 22 years old, è very good and I am very happy for what he is doing, I would be stupid to think otherwise. Of course, you still feel like overcoming them all, it still takes time but he can do it. When Jannik will finish his career then the sums will be drawn", Pietrangeli therefore said.
Panatta said that Pietrangeli was making his own rankings. What did he mean by that? "I don't know why he said that: I know that in Italy there's a disease called jealousy or envy". Panatta è jealous? " I didn't say that. But I ask you: how would I have made the ranking by myself? It was an inappropriate and also unexpected joke. When you call Panatta, call me too…".
