Moto3, at Mugello new show of David Alonso
Fifth win out of seven races this season and fourth in the last five for CFMoto Aspar Team’s Colombian David Alonso who triumphs in the Italian Grand Prix at the Mugello circuit.
Only Husqvarna’s Dutchman Colin Veijer managed to keep up with him being beaten by only 142 thousandths. Third at more than a second is the Japanese of KTM Mt Helmets – Msi Ryusei Yamanaka, who climbs the podium for the first time after 83 races.
The race was stopped on lap four to rescue Reb BullKTM Ajo Spaniard Xabi Zurutuza, who was run over by Filippo Farioli on a SIC58 Squadra Corse Honda. From the very first reports the riders seem to be fortunately both conscious, even Farioli canò restart, while for Zurutuza a back injury.
At the restart, the Spaniard of the KTM Red Bull GasGas Tech3 Daniel Holgado, second in the category ranking, causes a fall and is inflicted a long lap, but not having done it well, he is inflicted another one and thus ends up in the rear. He will limit the damage with a 14th place finish.
In the world standings, Alonso now commands with 37 points over Holgado and 48 over Veijer, the latter of whom will have the opportunity to contest his home race in Assen in four weeks.
