Euro 2024, Belgium rises again with Romania: 2-0
A crucial success, to put the shock debut behind us.
Belgium has been reborn at Euro 2024, thanks to a 2-0 win over Romania that allows them to put the knockout against Slovakia behind them and get back in the thick of the race for the passage to the round. In fact, after the first two matches played by each team in Group E, the standings say they are all on 3 points (the last of the lot è currently Ukraine, due to the worst goal difference).
The match started in the best way for Belgium, which already in the 2nd minute took the lead thanks to Youri Tielemans, who was good at finding the goal from outside the box on a Lukaku support. The latter and Lukebakio failed to find the double, while Romania tried with Dragusin and Man: Casteels did well to avoid trouble. In the final half De Bruyne comes on, but he doesn't scare the alert Nita.
The resumption opens with a strong-willed Romania, but Casteels denies Man and Mihaila the equalizer. Then De Bruyne tries twice, before triggering Lukaku who deposits in the net: the doubling però not è validated by Var for a millimeter offside by the former Inter and Roma center forward. For him è already; the third goal annulled after only two games in these European Championships.
Having escaped the danger, Romania tried to pour into the attack especially with the usual Man and young Hagi. To find the goal that closes the accounts è forò Belgium, thanks to De Bruyne, who at the 80'80' collects the ball directly from Casteels’ deflection, overcomes Dragusin’s marking and beats Nita bringing his team back in the race for the round of 16 at Euro 2024.
