Italy, Cesare Prandelli expresses solidarity with Luciano Spalletti
Cesare Prandelli, former Italy coach, spoke about Luciano Spalletti's elimination of the Azzurri at the 2024 European Championship in Germany. Prandelli is receiving the Menarini Fair Play Award tonight at the Teatro Romano in Fiesole, Florence. Here are his words.
"I address a thought of great solidarityà towards Luciano, I know what it means. In the last game (the one we lost 2-0 to Switzerland, ed.) those who saw the match had a feeling of helplessness, even those of us who were at home to watch … it almost felt like going into the field”.
“They were catatonic, and è it is difficult to make a judgment on players who are also temperamental, temperamental, you have to understand if they came in with too much responsibility, or if at the moment they went under they thought they were not going to make it, è it is difficult to understand".
“We all become big fans, experts, when the big events of the national team come, but during the seasons, during the months where there's planning, nobody knows anything. We are discussing difficulties, but we were also discussing them 15 years ago, we made proposals: no one did anything, so now è time to do, è it is useless to make so many speeches, you have to do something because otherwise everything becomes complicated, the reality è è very serious".
