Paris 2024 Olympics, Italians to medal: Chituru Ali
Paris Olympics: Azzurri to medal
Born in Italy on April 6, 1999, to a Nigerian mother and a Ghanaian father, Chituru Ali grew up in Albate, a neighborhood south of Como, in the care of the Mottin family. He played soccer as a child, until he began to have several physical problems due to his increasing height. He then decided to switch to athletics, beginning to try his hand at both hurdles and jumps.
In 2019, he put his best foot forward in the 110 hs, touching the final at the U23 European Championships. In 2020, upon returning from lockdown, he focused on sprinting and two years later improved to 10.12 in the 100 meters. The following year he is held back by physical problems but makes a strong comeback in 2024 and at the European Championships in Rome puts his signature on the silver medal.
Then in Turku, in the Continental Toru Gold he records an excellent 9.96 in the 100m, which earns him a pass to his first career Olympic Games. On his shoulders he has a tattoo with roots from which two wings start, a reminder of both his family and his surname, and in Paris he will try to fly higher and higher trying to consecrate himself definitively in the Five Circles event as well.
The Como native graduated from a technical institute in administration, finance and marketing. He listens to music of all kinds and in addition to soccer follows the world of martial arts with great involvement.
