Jannik Sinner: Marco Bortolotti recounts his ordeal

Italian tennis player Marco Bortolotti, just like Jannik Sinner, è has been acquitted in the past for a situation practically the same as the one the South Tyrolean is experiencing now: in an interview with Gazzetta dello Sport, the Italian doubles player from Emilia told about his ordeal, while at the same time giving full solidarity to the world number one.

"I understand Jannik very well: you see the world come crashing down on you and the efforts of a lifetime shattered,‖ explained Bortolotti. Jannik isà experiencing very stressful days. È a huge damage to your image: when è it happened to me, I sùbito thought that I would have difficulties in becoming a coach, which è what I would like to do".

"I totally support him – continued the Emilian athlete -: these are difficult situations to deal with. Sinner has a very strong personality, but we are all human: è it is difficult to remain indifferent to such accusations. You see yourself vilified after investing in a passion all your life, giving everything and doing it with joy".

"Né Jannik né the physical therapist were aware of what was going on. I am one thousand percent convinced" are his words. "At the end of November I è was notified of the outcome and was on the hook with this until early February: as happened with Sinner, I could play while the’investigation went on. If the situation had not been resolved by the deadline, I would have risked suspension. But the case è closed on time: the version offered by me and my lawyer corresponded with the lab tests that were done".

On the criticism of Sinner, the Italian tennis player è expressed himself very harshly: "È absurd: è all envious people, who do not know what we are talking about. I have informed myself a lot and now I think I have more right to speak than Kyrgios, who expresses himself without having any idea".
