Addio Totò Schillaci: Sergio Criminisi’s cartoon moves social

"Goodbye Totò. Tied to you are some of my most beautiful memories of an era and a soccer that will never exist againù": the cartoonist Sergio Criminisi wanted to remember Totò Schillaci with a moving cartoon published on his social profiles.

In the memorial drawing, the protagonist è mascot "Ciao", the symbol of the 1990 World Cup of which Totò Schillaci was the top scorer and the brightest star. "Ciao" in the image he weeps over the tombstone of the former Sicilian footballer, who passed away at the age of 59 after a long battle with colon cancer.

The cartoon by the Agrigento cartoonist è immediately went viral and moved social media, with hundreds of shares, comments and nostalgic memories of a different and more carefree era.

In his career, Schillaci wore the jerseys of Messina, Juve, Inter and Jubilo Iwata (Japan), scoring more than 200 goals: his true peak was reached with Italy, during the World Cup of '90 of which he was top scorer with 6 goals, dragging the national team up to third place.
