Gianni Petrucci re-elected to lead FIP, Umberto Gandini’s message

On the sidelines of the re-election of Gianni Petrucci as president of the Italian Basketball Federation for the four-year Olympic period 2025-2028, the number one of the Basketball League Serie A, Umberto Gandini, wanted to address a message of congratulations to Petrucci himself, confirming the willingness of LBA to work in synergy with FIP.
"On behalf of the LBA and the Serie A clubs, I extend my most sincere congratulations to Giovanni Petrucci on his re-election to the leadership of the Italian Basketball Federation,” said Gandini, “with best wishes for the new four-year term. The’enthusiasm and determination with which he conducted the campaign that led to his re-election are confirmation of his will’to continue working for the growth of the basketball movement".
"In this, Petrucci will findà the maximum collaboration and availability; of the top basketball I represent with the aim of improving the qualityà of the Serie A championship and at the same time create the basis for the growth of new Italian players who can contribute to the successes of the National Team, whose results certainly represent a fundamental flywheel for the diffusion and visibilityà of our basketball".
Petrucci won the federal election with 70.83 percent of the vote, against the 23.96 percent obtained by the'other candidate, Guido Valori. Five blank ballots were cast. Gianni Petrucci first led the FIP between 1992 and 1999, before becoming president of CONI between 1999 and 2013. Since the same 2013 è he was re-elected president of FIP, a post he will hold until at least 2028.
