Vero Volleyball Milan, Italy Cup remains taboo: Conegliano still champion

It shattered in the final the dream of Numia Vero Volley Milano for which remains a tabù the A1 Italian Cup Frecciarossa. In the last act, played at Unipol Arena in Casalecchio di Reno, Paola Egonu and her teammates surrendered in three sets (37-35; 25-20; 25-20) to Prosecco Doc Imoco Conegliano which is confirmed as champion again.

The Milanese team, fresh from the marathon tie-break against Scandicci in the semifinals, played a heart-stopping first partial, which ended 37-35 for Conegliano but set the record for the longest set played in a Coppa Italia final. In the second and third fractions Lavarini’s girls managed to come back on more occasions, preventing the Veneto’s stretches but lacking incisiveness in key moments.

Isabelle Haak è the MV of the match, but the title of top scorer goes to Paola Egonu, author of 24 points. For Numia Vero Volley Milan on Wednesday, February 12, it will already be an opportunity for a rematch: at 8:45 p.m. at Palaverde di Villorba, Milan will have the chance to get a rematch against Conegliano, this time in Serie A1 Tigotà and consolidate the second position in the standings.
