After beating Benjamin Bonzi in a comeback in the second round of the Miami Masters 1000, Jannik Sinner finds on his way a name still little known to the general public, but one that is growing steadily and ambitiously on the circuit: Elmer Moller, 22-year-old Dane, currently number 169 in the rankings but rising to position number 102 in July 2025, who in the previous rounds beat Federico Cinà in two sets and overcame Gabriel Diallo by the latter’s withdrawal at 7-5, 3-3.

Born in Aarhus on July 9, 2003, Moller has built his career away from the spotlight, climbing step by step through the minor circuits until he firmly entered the world’s top 200. His best ranking coincided with his excellent results at Challenger level: between the end of 2024 and the following twelve months, in fact, he won in Braga, Oeiras, Iasi and Maia, in all cases on clay.

In 2025 he also made his debut in three Grand Slam tournaments: Roland Garros (entered as a lucky loser in the main draw, he was defeated in the first round by Tommy Paul), Wimbledon (after entering the draw in place of injured compatriot Casper Ruud he was beaten in the first round by Frances Tiafoe), and US Open (where he picked up another first-round defeat against Paul).

Since 2022 he has been a member of the Danish Davis Cup team, with which he has already collected important results. In September 2025, in the match against Spain in Marbella, he overcame Jaume Munar giving him a chance to qualify for the Final 8, before, however, surrendering to Pablo Carreño Busta in the deciding match. The experience, however, has solidified his reputation as a solid player capable of withstanding the pressure of big matches.

Between Sinner and Moller there is no precedent: the match valid for the third round of the Madrid 2026 Masters 1000 will be staged on Sunday, April 26 at the Caja Magica, the venue of the tournament hosted by the Spanish capital.
