Adriano Panatta will be among the protagonists on the final day of the Internazionali d’Italia at the Foro Italico, where he will present the trophy to the winner of the men’s final between Jannik Sinner and Casper Ruud. Sinner reaches the last act after a tough semifinal against Daniil Medvedev, which was interrupted by rain and ended only the following day. The Azzurro won in three sets (6-2, 5-7, 6-4), but his performance ignited debate among the former Italian champions.

In the podcast “La Telefonata,” available on Spotify, Panatta analyzed the challenge this way: “The second set was of a very high level, but for the first time in a long time I saw Sinner suffer shots from the back court. He is not used to it and, when he is forced to chase, he is not the strongest of all.”

The triumphant 50-year-old then pointed out the level expressed by Medvedev: “Medvedev was shooting harder, he was entering the court and constantly taking the initiative. And Sinner suffered.”

Commenting on the semifinal against Medvedev was also Paolo Bertolucci, who spoke along with Panatta on the same podcast: “We witnessed a battle, at times even of a very high level. Sinner showed some difficulties in the defensive phase and, in this aspect, he is not the best on the circuit.”

Bertolucci then highlighted above all the emotional reaction of the South Tyrolean champion in the decisive set: “I really appreciated the way he reacted in the third set, showing also his more human side. After the 2-1 break he screamed: it’s the first time I’ve seen him almost decomposed.”
