Urbano Cairo talks about the sale of Torino and a possible return of Ventura

Turin president Urbano Cairo in an interview with Sky spoke about the possible sale of the Granata club, vindicating his work: “My passion has not been touched, I dedicate to Turin the commitment I used to dedicate at the beginning. However, the world has changed and turnovers in soccer count more than 50 years ago. I took a failed Torino and we have been in Serie A for 14 years in a row, often from the left side of the standings. We rebuilt the Filadelfia and also the youth sector has churned out a lot of players over the years.”
“This year, too, we can quietly go to market without blockades. If someone can do better than me, I would be happy to consider all offers. I will continue to be the first supporter of Torino. I will go to see Toro in the Marathon if they welcome me, otherwise I will go to the stands.”
On D’Aversa’s possible renewal: “We have a contract until June 30, he arrived in February and has done very well. I am grateful to him for the work and commitment put in, let’s see what will happen. We are reasoning with ds Petrachi and D’Aversa is widely considered. We have many hypotheses, I do not anticipate anything because we are in a phase of reflection. I really respect D’Aversa and I am happy that he is here: good coach and excellent person.”
Cairo then spoke about a possible return of Ventura: “He is a friend and a coach who has been with us 5 years doing very well. With Mazzarri we did more points, but with him we got to Europe. It has remained a good relationship, I am also his best man. Talking about soccer with Ventura is great, we saw each other several times even last night. But before making choices, we need to evaluate carefully.”
