Federer's former coach directed on Jannik Sinner and Alexander Zverev

Ivan Ljubicic in an interview with La Stampa commented on the first victory in a Slam tournament of Alexander Zverev, who won Roland Garros last Sunday by overcoming Flavio Cobolli in the final. The German tennis player finally reached the coveted goal, but according to Roger Federer’s former coach, the hierarchies have not changed at all.
“This victory will change little from the past, for Sascha the result has changed, but not the way he played. He won a match he had to win, but Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz remain stronger. Zverev will remain the first of the seconds, the one on the court waiting for the opponent. And not much will change for Cobolli either; he has forfeited this good experience. The first time in the quarters, semifinals and finals in a Slam, he will handle it better in the future. But I don’t think he will revolutionize his season.”
The analysis of the final: “Flavio made a mistake entering the match, I saw confusion, nervousness. Then he recovered and he was the one who tried the most to win in the third, in the fourth, even in the fifth set. Top 10? He deserves it, the numbers don’t lie. He plays well on all surfaces, he has character, he is complete.” Cobolli’s final confirms the current strength of Italian tennis: “The depth is crazy, no doubt about that. Italy is dominating, not only with individual results, but in team competitions. It’s a positive moment and you have to enjoy it because nothing lasts forever.”
Fabio Fognini in an interview with Gazzetta dello Sport warned Cobolli against the trap of expectations: “Now comes the most complicated part. He has to face everything calmly, focus on himself and programming. And he must have the courage to raise the bar. He must not feel compelled to prove anything.”
