Atalanta Transfer Market: Bid for Dissatisfied Juventus Player; Sarri Believes in It

Juventus has no intention of accepting Atlético Madrid’s terms regarding the transfer of Nico González. The Colchoneros can count on the Argentine’s desire to return to Diego Pablo Simeone’s squad, but they would like to structure the deal as a loan with an option to buy—a solution the Bianconeri are not keen on. Meanwhile, Atalanta has also entered the fray, reportedly making an offer for the former Fiorentina player. Gonzalez is highly regarded by both Cristiano Giuntoli and Maurizio Sarri, but the deal faces a major hurdle: the player’s salary, which amounts to approximately 3.6 million euros per season.
The financial issue remains the main obstacle to overcome. Juventus had acquired Gonzalez for a total of over 30 million euros and, to avoid a capital loss, is asking for at least 26 million to let him go. Atlético Madrid, for its part, had already had the opportunity to buy him outright for 32 million at the end of the loan, but chose not to exercise that option. Now the Colchoneros would like to reopen negotiations on different terms, proposing a deal that Juventus considers unacceptable.
Gonzalez’s situation is intertwined with other ongoing issues between Juventus and Atlético Madrid. The two clubs are also in contact regarding Juan Musso, an Argentine goalkeeper who no longer appears to be part of Simeone’s plans and who has returned to the spotlight in light of Palermo’s attempt to sign Mattia Perin. The two deals could end up on the same table, setting the stage for a more complex transaction that allows both clubs to find a satisfactory middle ground.
The Gonzalez situation could also prove decisive in unblocking another Bianconeri target. Luciano Spalletti has expressed a desire to have a physical, box-to-box center forward at his disposal, and the top priority is Alexander Sorloth, whom Atlético Madrid values at around 30 million euros. The Argentine’s transfer to the Colchoneros could therefore become the key to putting together a comprehensive deal with the Madrid club, allowing Juventus to finance the purchase of the Norwegian and simultaneously resolve the player’s situation.
