Team Visma | Lease a Bike plays its two-pronged strategy to perfection. Wout van Aert makes his move in the final stretch, and Matthew Brennan capitalizes on the team’s work to launch a devastating sprint, winning the second stage of the 2026 Vuelta a España. The British rider claimed victory in Manosque at the end of a spectacular stage, marked by an eventful finish and constant changes in pace.

The first part of the race saw three riders break away: Ethan Hayter of Soudal Quick-Step, Koen Bouwman of Team Jayco AlUla, and Diego Uriarte of Equipo Kern Pharma. Hayter tried to take the initiative, crossing the intermediate sprint line first and chasing bonus points with the goal of closing in on the Red Jersey.

The breakaway’s attempt, however, was neutralized by the peloton, which postponed any decisive action until the final stretch of the stage. And it was precisely in the final stretch that the race exploded. About two kilometers from the finish, Wout van Aert launched a massive surge. The Belgian attacked, taking Tadej Pogacar with him, but the Slovenian star chose not to cooperate, allowing the peloton to close the gap. Lidl-Trek then took control of the race to set up the sprint for Mads Pedersen. The Dane, however, was unable to contend for the win and finished in fourth place.

Matthew Brennan, on the other hand, emerged in the lead. The young Briton capitalized perfectly on his teammates’ work and launched an unstoppable sprint, immediately establishing a lead that allowed him to cross the finish line almost alone. Behind him, Pau Miquel of Bahrain Victorious mounted a comeback to finish second, while Tadej Pogacar rounded out the podium. This result allows the Slovenian to retain the Red Jersey and maintain his lead in the general classification. Team Visma | Lease a Bike thus achieved its goal with a perfect strategy: van Aert lit the fuse at the decisive moment, Brennan took up the baton, and turned the team’s effort into a highly prestigious victory.
