Unlucky Giada D'Antonio unveils valuable support from Sofia Goggia

Jada D’Antonio’s season came to a screeching halt at the most beautiful point: the Campania-born skier class of 2009, one of the promising Italian skiers along with Anna Trocker, suffered a serious injury in February during training at the Olympics, rupturing her cruciate ligament. It was a fall that forced her to postpone her Olympic dream, but the young Italian has already turned the page and is thinking about next season.
“I’m doing rehabilitation and it’s going well, I’m counting on putting skis on my feet in September. I can’t wait,” D’Antonio explained to the Campania regional news. The Italian skier revealed the invaluable support of Sofia Goggia, who has been the victim of serious injuries several times in the past and advised her how to deal with these difficult periods.
“I hoped the injury would be less serious. Sofia came to me to talk to me, she has experienced certain injuries firsthand and told me not to be afraid because these things do not define the athlete I will be. This injury will make me grow and mature and will teach me to be patient,” Giada explained.
Named Black Panther, Giada D’Antonio has collected many titles in the youth categories, establishing herself as one of the most interesting talents of the next generation of female skiers. The summons to the Winter Olympics in Milan Cortina was more than deserved, and it will not be an injury that will prevent the progression of her career.
Jada’s path to the Games had already begun last December, when she made her World Cup debut in the slalom in Semmering, Austria. A debut in the White Circus that came without even having competed in European Cup races, a technical choice desired by the federation so as not to lose a generational talent as had already happened in the past with Lara Colturi. Despite withdrawing in the first run, the young Neapolitan had been able to look on the bright side: “The debut in the World Cup is never forgotten and regardless of the result I am happy to be here. I wanted my family members to be close to me at this moment: this debut makes me think that you can really think big and achieve big goals.”
