Formula 1 changes, drivers heard: here’s what will change as early as the Miami GP

Formula 1 has decided to change. In light of the many complaints from the drivers, particularly Max Verstappen (but not only), important changes are coming at the regulatory level. There is a desire to meet the demands of the drivers to provide an even more special show.
Next week, all the components involved (FIA, F1, teams and drivers) will meet to figure out what direction to take and, above all, what new rules to apply. Mind you, no new regulations regarding power units will be touched, at least for the time being.
Instead, the focus will be on two critical aspects, namely qualifying and safety. In the first case, there is a strong desire to make qualifying more “real,” trying to make the driver’s impact on the dry lap significantly more revealing. The safety issue is also key after what happened to Bearman at the Japanese GP.
If everything goes right, the new rules could already be implemented starting with the next Miami GP, scheduled for the weekend of May 2-3. Formula 1 is ready for anything to make its product more “real,” while also respecting the drivers’ thinking.
