Now it’s official. The start of the Miami GP, with Kimi Antonelli in pole position, has been brought forward. Initially scheduled for 4 p.m. local time, or 10 p.m. Italian time, the start of the GP on U.S. soil changes time. It will start at 7 p.m. Italian time, as announced by the FIA and FOM.

The reason? Weather alert in Miami. According to forecasts, heavy rain and lightning are expected right during the time of the race and, as a result, here is the decision to move the start of the GP forward by three hours, so as to avoid serious problems and, perhaps, having to cancel the GP.

After having to cancel the stages in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia due to the conflict in the Middle East, FIA and FOM do not want to take unnecessary risks.

“Following discussions between the FIA, FOM and the promoter of the Miami Grand Prix, a decision was made to bring forward the start of the Miami Grand Prix on Sunday to 1:00 p.m. (7:00 p.m. Italian time), in view of the weather forecast indicating the arrival of heavy rain in the late afternoon, close to the originally scheduled race start time. This decision was taken in order to minimize race disruptions, to ensure as much time as possible for the Grand Prix to be completed under the best possible conditions, and to prioritize the safety of drivers, fans, teams and staff,” the official statement issued by the FIA and FOM.
