The weekend of the Italian Grand Prix began with the classic opening sessions on Friday.

There was great expectation in particular in MotoGp to see Marc Marquez at work again, who had skipped his home weekend, in Catalonia, due to the injury suffered in Le Mans that had forced him to undergo yet another operation faced during his career. The reigning world champion actually preferred to lap without forcing, getting the 15th time at 1.177 from the leader of the session, Fabio Di Giannantonio.

The Ducati VR46 rider was ahead of Jorge Martin (Aprilia, +0.369) and Ai Ogura (Aprilia Trackhouse, +0.438), while Marc Marquez’s teammate at the factory Ducati, Pecco Bagnaia, did not go beyond the eighth position with a gap of 729 thousandths compared to Di Giannantonio, as far as their respective fastest laps are concerned.

As for Marquez, there is however one aspect that seemed evident to everyone during the morning session at Mugello and that still keeps the fans of the number 93 on their toes: Marc in fact seemed limp in the pits, as well as very cautious on the track. However, the Catalan rider will undergo a further medical checkup before receiving the final green light to face the rest of the weekend.

The Marquez brothers’ period is anything but fortunate: Marc is in fact back after the bad injury suffered in Le Mans, which had also led to fears of a longer stop than it actually was, while Alex was in spite of himself protagonist of the very violent accident in Montmeló that caused him to break his collarbone and a microfracture in the C7 vertebra.
