Jannik Sinner’s untimely exit at Roland Garros continues to stir up discussion on the ATP circuit. In particular, it was Andre Agassi’s words that made the most noise, with the American legend openly accusing the Italian of not having prepared himself as well as he could for the Paris tournament.

Another former world number one, Andy Roddick, commented on Agassi’s words in his podcast, “We always say that we want pundits to tell it like it is or what they think, direct and no-nonsense. Well, Andre’s former coach coaches Jannik. Agassi loves Darren Cahill and Darren Cahill loves him.”

“So I appreciate the honesty, he wanted to send a message. And it takes someone with Andre’s pedigree to say that. He doesn’t say it to get views; he doesn’t need anything from tennis. He never says anything trivial and always says what he thinks.”

In detail, Agassi had pointed his finger mainly at the Blue’s physical handling, drawing a comparison with his own career: “There is a difference between being fit and being prepared,” the Las Vegas Kid had told TNT Sports microphones. “To see him give up after an hour and forty-five, to see him give up like that … is something that is striking. Obviously something in the preparation did not work, because there are arrangements to avoid such episodes. You can’t say that he doesn’t work hard, or that he’s not in shape. He was one game away from winning, and we all thought he could go on in the tournament without losing a single set.”
