Juventus Transfer Market, Dusan Vlahovic: Carnevali’s Surprising Comments Reignite the Debate

The remarks made by Giovanni Carnevali in Rimini, on the sidelines of the event marking the opening of the summer transfer window, have brought Dusan Vlahovic’s future back into the spotlight. Juventus’s new CEO and transfer chief has taken a surprisingly clear stance, at least on the surface: “I’ve never spoken with him in person. It must be said that in soccer, today’s possibilities aren’t necessarily tomorrow’s; Vlahovic is an important player, but as of now, he’s not on our radar.”

This statement comes at a very delicate moment for the Serbian, who became a free agent on July 1 after his contract with Juventus expired and has yet to reach an agreement with a new club. A scenario that would have been unthinkable just a few months ago, when transfer rumors portrayed him as one of the most sought-after center forwards in Europe: from Bayern Munich to Manchester United, including AC Milan—though that latter option faded with the departure of Massimiliano Allegri and Igli Tare, the main architects of the deal.

Carnevali’s words have reignited the debate among industry insiders: some see the CEO’s stance as a rejection, while others view it as a communication strategy to avoid raising expectations and maintain room to maneuver. Because that is precisely the point: the negotiations could still go in any direction.

Vlahovic’s entourage, aware of the situation and the risk of a complicated summer, would be willing to revise their financial demands in order to avoid a sensational scenario: a 26-year-old striker, in the prime of his career, without a contract just a few weeks before the start of the new season. A situation that, inevitably, could also reopen possibilities for Juventus.
