Leonardo Totè may move further north

Maxima Roma continues to monitor the Italian player market and is reportedly targeting two big men currently under contract with Napoli Basket. The player who has most impressed the Rome-based club is Leonardo Totè, coming off a season in which he averaged 14.7 points and 5.1 rebounds. Guglielmo Caruso’s candidacy, however, is less likely, as he averaged 5.7 points and 3.5 rebounds per game in the 2025–26 season.
The future of the two players could depend on Napoli’s next moves, as the team is reportedly looking for a foreign center to add to its starting five. Such a move could prompt the Campania-based club to release one of the two Italian big men, thereby paving the way for the Roman club’s interest.
The backdrop is that of Napoli Basketball preparing for a particularly demanding season, with action on two fronts—the league and the EuroCup—and a schedule that could exceed fifty games in total. For this reason, the Neapolitan front office aims to build a deep and versatile roster, with coach Jasmin Repesa confirmed on the bench. It is precisely the need to manage playing time effectively that could make one of the two Azzurri big men expendable, should the foreign center sought by the Campania-based club arrive.
It should be noted that Totè’s stint in Naples during the 2025–26 season was the result of an early return compared to the original plans. The Verona-born center had signed with Olimpia Milano in the summer, but after a first half of the season that fell short of expectations, he mutually terminated his contract with the Milan club in February, immediately finding a role with the Neapolitan team. This third stint in Naples, therefore, proved particularly successful in terms of scoring.
Guglielmo Caruso, for his part, is also a name that transcends club dynamics: the big man, born in 1999, was called up by Luca Banchi for the summer window of the 2027 World Cup qualifiers, confirming that the head coach considers him a player of interest for the national team. This is an important showcase that could also influence the market valuations of clubs interested in the player.
