Napoli Transfer Market: Developments at Training Camp Involving Frank Anguissa; Allegri on Edge

Massimiliano Allegri hopes for a positive outcome soon: the relationship between Frank Zambo Anguissa and Napoli could continue for a long time to come. The presence at training camp of his longtime agent, Maxime Nana, alongside Italian manager Giovanni Branchini, has in fact reignited talk of a new contract extension, following the one signed in 2022. Negotiations had stalled last November due to the midfielder’s injury, though he continues to attract interest from several clubs on the transfer market. Anguissa is particularly sought after in Turkey and England, where Sunderland is among the clubs most interested in him.
The forced layoff in question was particularly serious: last November, while playing for the Cameroonian national team, Anguissa suffered a severe tear of the biceps femoris muscle in his left thigh, diagnosed at Pineta Grande Hospital. The injury sidelined him for several months, causing him to miss the Super Cup in Saudi Arabia, and effectively put all contract renewal talks on hold just as the parties were trying to reach an agreement.
Ironically, the injury occurred just as the Cameroonian midfielder was in top form. Just one week before the injury, Anguissa had won the EA SPORTS FC Player of the Month award for October in Serie A, beating out stars such as Calhanoglu, Leao, and Cambiaghi in the final vote. This recognition confirmed his extraordinary start to the season—highlighted by three decisive goals in the span of a month—and allowed him to repeat the same award he had already won the previous January.
This isn’t the first time Maxime Nana has sat at the negotiating table on behalf of one of his clients with Italian and English clubs. The French-Cameroonian agent has been a leading figure for years among agents working between Serie A and the Premier League, as evidenced by his past involvement in managing Wilfried Singo during his time at Torino. His presence in Castel Volturno, therefore, is a clear sign of his commitment to finding a mutually agreeable solution with the Napoli club.
