Inter Transfer Market: The Nerazzurri Are Once Again the Frontrunners for Diaby. The Deal Is All Set

Inter is confident about signing Moussa Diaby. The possibility of signing the 27-year-old French winger has suddenly reopened after the player made it known that he has not yet accepted Bayer Leverkusen’s offer. The Nerazzurri are still on the hunt for a right back and are putting pressure on his agents and his current club, Al-Ittihad.

In recent weeks, Inter had a bid of 20 million euros plus Kristjan Asllani rejected for the player: According to Sky, the Italian champions are preparing a new bid for the French player, who, should he return to Europe, would be willing to accept a salary of 6 million euros per season.

On the transfer out front, French-Ivorian forward Issiaka Kamatè—who currently plays for Inter’s Under-23 team—has left the club. According to Sky, Espanyol has secured the promising player for 4 million euros, although the Italian champions have included a buyback option in his contract as well as a percentage of any future resale.

Should the deal for Diaby fall through, Inter is reportedly considering Nico Gonzalez as a Plan B: the Argentine, who returned to Juventus after Atlético Madrid did not exercise its buyout option at the end of his loan, is not part of the Old Lady’s plans. The player’s representatives have already been in contact with Inter’s management to explore the feasibility of a deal, which could potentially take shape through a swap involving Davide Frattesi, who has long been on his way out of AC Milan.

The need to strengthen the right flank has been repeatedly emphasized by Chivu himself, who, following Denzel Dumfries’ departure, finds himself with a thin roster in that area of the field. The Nerazzurri coach has been explicit in recent weeks: “We have three wingers now—actually, three and a half, because Carlos could play there. I prefer him as a third man, though. And depending on how we view Luis Henrique—whether on the right or the left—we’re still missing one. The transfer window is still open for a while; we need to be patient and choose wisely.”
