Where Will Paul Pogba Play? Several Clubs Are on His Trail After His Confirmed Departure from Monaco

Paul Pogba’s stint with Monaco is coming to an end after one year. In the summer of 2025, the French midfielder had signed with the Ligue 1 club with great emotion, hoping to relaunch his career after a seven-month hiatus following the termination of his contract with Juventus. But his stint with the Principality club has also fallen through. As reported by Nice-Matin, Monaco has informed Pogba of its intention not to continue the partnership and to terminate his contract by the end of the summer transfer window.

Last Tuesday, Pogba suffered yet another muscle injury—an incident that reinforced the management’s conviction, though they had already decided to part ways following a disappointing season in which the player took the field for a total of just 115 minutes. CEO Thiago Scuro had definitively closed the door: “The truth is that the project didn’t work out well last season. When we launched it, our expectations were quite different.”

The 2018 World Cup champion has barely played in recent years due to a lengthy doping suspension and a series of physical problems that plagued his second stint with Juventus and what was supposed to be his comeback season at Monaco.

Yet, several clubs are still interested in him. According to reports from Sports Illustrated, some MLS teams have inquired about him, including Los Angeles FC, Kansas City, Montreal, New York City FC, and the Colorado Rapids. Significant offers could therefore soon land on the Frenchman’s desk: at 33, Pogba hasn’t given up yet and might make one last attempt in the North American league.

In Montreal, Pogba could be reunited with a familiar face from Italian soccer, 37-year-old Alexis Sánchez, who is a free agent following his stint at Sevilla. The Chilean, who signed a one-year contract with an option for the 2027–28 season, said: “I’m very happy to have joined Montreal. I can’t wait to put my experience to work to help us achieve our goals.”
