Como Transfer Market: Another Suitor Steps Forward for Álvaro Morata

Alvaro Morata remains one of the leading candidates to leave Como during this transfer window. Having arrived a year ago with high expectations, the Spanish forward failed to make the impact hoped for, ending a disappointing season with just one goal to his credit, scored in the Coppa Italia.
The Spaniard’s season was also marred by a series of physical issues that limited his performance. The most serious occurred in December, when Morata suffered a severe injury to the long adductor muscle in his left thigh during a Serie A match against Inter—an injury that kept him off the field for several months and effectively derailed the second half of his season.
The club from Lake Como is therefore working to find a solution that satisfies all parties. Among the scenarios being considered are a return to Spain or a transfer to another foreign league. What makes his departure particularly complicated is Morata’s high salary, which is close to 5 million euros net per season.
There have been several inquiries in recent weeks, but none of these have yet led to the start of formal negotiations. To facilitate the departure of the former Juventus and Milan forward, Como is reportedly also considering a straight loan deal, showing a willingness to cover part of his salary. Among the possible destinations, Deportivo La Coruña remains one to watch, as the club reportedly hasn’t yet given up on the idea of bringing Morata back to Spain.
Among the Italian options, rumors of interest from Atalanta have also circulated in recent weeks. The geographical proximity between Bergamo and Como would make this a potentially convenient option for the Spaniard, but for now these are merely rumors, with no concrete negotiations having taken place. On the international front, there has also been talk of a possible move to MLS, though it remains to be seen whether Morata is willing to move to yet another country, especially considering that his contract with Como expires in June 2029.
