Filippo Tortu starts again with a new Swiss challenge
The words of Filippo Tortu
It is the last race before the World Championships in Eugene. On Sunday, Olympic 4×100 champion Filippo Tortu will start in the 200 meters in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland, for his third outing of the season over the distance he will tackle at the now upcoming World Championships in Oregon (July 15-24).
So far this year the Yellow Flames sprinter has run in a windy 20.41 in Doha, in the first leg of the Diamond League, and then in 20.40 for third place at the Pietro Mennea Golden Gala, in front of the crowd at the Olympic Stadium in Rome.
“An important race awaits me – the words of the 24-year-old from Brianza – as a test before the World Championships. There are only a few days to go to Eugene and I need a check on the half lap before the last training period in the United States. I have good feelings in training, but I need to find the right set-up in the race.”
Opponents include Cuban Reynier Mena, who dropped to 20.04 recently, and Botswanian Isaac Makwala, a career 19.77 man.
