Monza faces an important Lombardy derby on Matchday 11 of Serie A. On Sunday, November 8, at 3:00 p.m., the Brianza-based team hosts Atalanta at the U-Power Stadium in a match where crucial points are at stake for both teams. The Biancorossi are looking to bounce back after a difficult start to the season, while the Bergamo side needs to put an end to its losing streak.

The team coached by Ivan Juric has lost seven of its first ten games this season, managing just two wins and one draw. This is an unprecedented performance in the club’s Serie A history after eleven matchdays: Monza has never suffered eight losses at this stage of the season. At home, however, the Brianza-based team has shown signs of a turnaround, securing two wins in their last three matches.

Maurizio Sarri’s Atalanta isn’t having an easy time either, having lost five of their first ten matches, matching their worst start since the 2014–15 season. The Nerazzurri have earned just one point in their first four away games and are looking for their first road win of the season at the Brianteo.

The head-to-head stats definitely favor La Dea: Atalanta has won all six Serie A matches played against Monza. Furthermore, the Biancorossi have lost all three of their home matches against the Bergamo side in the top flight.

Juric is expected to field Monza in a 3-4-2-1 formation. Törnqvist will be in goal, with Kouadio, Goglichidze, and Lucchesi forming the back line. Birindelli and Mangas will play on the wings, while Akinsanmiro and Foe Ondoa will feature in midfield. Mota and Zeballos are expected to operate in the attacking midfield, behind striker Gustavo Varela.

Atalanta is expected to respond with a 4-2-3-1 formation. Carnesecchi will start in goal, protected by a defensive line consisting of Zappacosta, Scalvini, Obric, and Bernasconi. Pasalic and Ederson will play in midfield, while Elmas, De Ketelaere, and Rowe will support lone striker Krstovic in the attacking midfield.

Probable lineups:

MONZA (3-4-2-1): Törnqvist; Kouadio, Goglichidze, Lucchesi; Birindelli, Akinsanmiro, Foe Ondoa, Mangas; Mota, Zeballos; Varela. Head Coach: Juric.

ATALANTA (4-2-3-1): Carnesecchi; Zappacosta, Scalvini, Obric, Bernasconi; Pasalic, Ederson; Elmas, De Ketelaere, Rowe; Krstovic. Head Coach: Sarri.
