Max Verstappen pinpoints old Red Bull’s problem

The world champion identifies the problem of the old Red Bull

Two-time world champion Max Verstappen is preparing for the 2023 season in which he will try to become the fifth driver in history to win three consecutive world championships: before him Juan Manuel Fangio, Michael Schumacher, Sebastian Vettel and Lewis Hamilton.

The Dutch driver, in an interview with ‘Autosport,’ highlighted the problems of the old Red Bull: “The main issue was not the tires, but the weight of the car, which was definitely too much. This creates lazy behavior at the front. Once we started getting rid of that weight, the car became more agile, and that’s how cars usually go fast. I’ve never sat in an understeered, fast car in my life, in any category.”

“Clearly with the new Pirelli tires, I think there is a small improvement, although it has to be said that we only tried them in Abu Dhabi. We have to see on each track if they work, because the asphalt and track conditions over the weekend affect a lot. But I am confident that everything will go in the right direction,” Verstappen continued.
