F1, Red Bull chases sixth in a row in Monaco
In the first five races only successes by Verstappen or Perez
To date, Red Bull is literally dominating the F1 2023 season. In the first five races, as many victories have come from the reigning World Champion team (three successes with Verstappen and two with Perez). Opponents have been left with only crumbs.
Red Bull is aiming to win the Monte Carlo GP as well, so as to reach six consecutive GPs won since the start of the World Championship, like Mercedes in 2014. Two fascinating records are in their sights: the nine consecutive GPs won by Mercedes in 2019 and the incredible performance of McLaren in 1988 (with Senna and Prost as drivers), which was able to win the first 11 GPs of the season.
Team principal Horner puts it this way: “In Monaco and then Singapore, qualifying is decisive, and there Ferrari, which is very strong on a dry lap, could create some problems for us.” Will that be the case?
