Giro d'Italia: Jonathan Milan grants the trio in Cento
There isn't two without three for Jonathan Milan at the Giro d'Italia. After triumphs in Andora and Francavilla al Mare, the cyclist from Friuli also made stage 13, the 179-kilometer Riccione-Cento, his own, preceding Polish Stanisław Aniolkowski and German Phil Bauhaus in the final sprint. At the foot of the podium was Tim Van Dijke, while Hugo Hofstetter rounded out the top 5. Confirmed in the pink jersey, however, is Slovenian Tadej Pogacar.
Good performances also for Giovanni Lonardi and Alberto Dainese who finish ninth and tenth, respectively.
"It's great to get the third stage win despite I feared when I fell behind because of the fans. My teammates guided me to perfection, helping me to get back into the group and later position myself to launch the sprint. Simone Consonni è was crucial, pulling from the -400 meters. It's impressive to see how everyone supported me to the best of their ability for the sprint, I am proud of my team" these are the warm statements of stage winner Jonathan Milan.
"So far, in every stage of the Giro è something happened. The course was flat, forò there was wind and it favored the fans. The Ineos Grenadiers attacked, but I always stayed in front. In their conditions I would have tried to do the same thing. Tomorrow and the day after tomorrow there will be two very important dates. I hope to do well" these, instead, are the words of Maglia Rosa Tadej Pogacar.
