Ferrari, Carlos Sainz among the very first in free practice in Spain

Britons Lando Norris, in a McLaren, and Lewis Hamilton, in a Mercedes, were the fastest in the two Friday free practice sessions of the Spanish Grand Prix at the Montmel&ograve circuit.

Norris in the early afternoon lapped in 1’14”228 just 24 thousandths ahead of world champion Max Verstappen’s Red Bull. Third at 344 thousandths was the Ferrari of Carlos Sainz, one of the home favorites, while Monegasque Charles Leclerc, in the other Ferrari, è ranked 11th.

Hamilton, seventh in the first session, lapped in 1’13”264 in the second, just 22 thousandths better than Sainz and 55 over Norris, fourth Pierre Gasly, fifth Verstappen and sixth Leclerc. Below is the complete classification of the two free practice sessions.
