An endless Cristiano Ronaldo drags Portugal’s Croatia, Spain stopped by Serbia

Nations League: Portugal-Croatia 2-1; Serbia-Spain 0-0

The first day of the 2024/2025 Nations League immediately delivers several emotions and surprises. The Group A1 big match between Portugal and Croatia ended with a narrow victory for the Lusitanians 2-1. Unlocking the match was Diogo Dalot on 7' and on 34' came the doubling goal with Cristiano Ronaldo, who scored his 900th career goal. The Croatian side managed to shorten the gap at the end of the first half thanks to an own goal by the Manchester United side. In the group's other challenge, Poland defeated Scotland in the last minute thanks to a goal by Roma’s Zalewski on a penalty kick in 97'.

Not going beyond 0-0, however, European champion Spain, which failed to break down the wall of Serbia. Bad knockout for Switzerland with Denmark, which found two goals in the last ten minutes of the match.

In Group C1 comes another historic event, namely, the first victory in an official competition by San Marino, which defeated Liechtenstein 1-0 thanks to Sensoli’s goal at 53'.
