Playout Serie C, Pro Patria needs only Ferri: beat Pro Vercelli

The first round of the Serie C playout goes to Pro Patria. At the stadium Carlo Speroni in Busto Arsizio the biancoblu needed only a goal by Ferri a few minutes from the end to bend Pro Vercelli (1-0) and win the first leg of the playout not to relegate to Serie D.

After two minutes double chances on either side: first Pitou serves Beretta in the box, who is put back at the last by a prodigious intervention of Iezzi; then on the opposite side Comi’s header sends just wide. In the 9th minute another chance for the guests with a venomous free kick from the edge from the left but Alcibiade saves on the line. On 15′ the Piedmontese tried again: cross by Clemente from the right and header by Carosso into the arms of Rovida. On 23′ corner for Pro Patria: short rebound, Barlocco tries from the limit but his attempt ends up in the stars. In the 59th minute, Beretta protects the ball well on the left out and puts it in tow for Piran, who kicks it wide but his shot grazes the crossbar of the posts. In the 72′ cross from the left by Piran: short clearance, Mallamo tries from the distance but his shot does not frame the mirror. At 76′ vibrant protests from the hosts for a hand touch in the Piedmont area. At’83 Pro Patria took the lead: Beretta handled the ball well in midfield and opened on the left for Piran, who returned to the right and crossed to the second post for Ferri, who beat Franchi from two steps with a header. On 89 Mehic’s header just high on a corner, three minutes later again Mehic wastes everything with his right footer from inside the area.

Thanks to this narrow success, Pro Patria will be able to go to Vercelli with two out of three results at its disposal. The return match is set for Saturday, May 17 at 5:30 p.m. at the Silvio Piola Stadium in Vercelli.
