It&#8217s ready to enchant the Pietro Mennea Golden Gala. She is ready to give another magical night at the Olympic Stadium. Nadia Battocletti calls Rome: one of the most anticipated stars of the Italian leg of the Wanda Diamond League (Friday, June 6 in the 5000) also puts her signature on the meeting in Rabat, Morocco.

The Italian achieves the Italian record in the 3000 meters with 8:26.27 (surpassing her 8:30.82 indoors and Roberta Brunet’s 8:35.65 outdoors) and is second in the Diamond League behind Kenyan Olympic champion Beatrice Chebet who hits the second fastest time of any era with 8:11.56. Applause also for Eloisa Coiro (eighth), at a personal best of 1:58.64 in the 800 meters: only Dorio and Cusma better than her in Italian history.

Beautiful performance by Italian high hurdler Marco Fassinotti (2.25), second with the same measure as New Zealand Olympic gold medalist Hamish Kerr (Matteo Sioli eighth 2.21). The Italians in the hurdles were excellent: Ayo Folorunso hit third in the 400hs with 54.74, Giada Carmassi improved her personal best in the 100hs (third Italian ever) with 12.81 (+1.2) and was fifth, Elena Carraro also did well with 12.89 (sixth). Roberta Bruni fifth in the pole vault (4.50), Leonardo Fabbri eighth in the weight (21.03) with Zane Weir 11th (20.11).

“It was my first race on the track of the season and it was really tough – Battocletti tells from Rabat – because I ran several laps by myself: it’s great to have finished second. I wasn’t thinking about the record, just racing hard. This race is dedicated to my great friend Belay Jacomelli who left us last week, and also to the family of my mom Jawhara, who was born in Morocco and was all here at the stadium.”
