Flavio Cobolli succumbs again to Alexander Zverev in Halle

Flavio Cobolli’s run at the ATP 500 in Halle stopped in the semifinals. The Roman tennis player, number 24 in the world, surrendered in two sets to Alexander Zverev, number 2 in the seeding and 3 in the ATP ranking, who won with a final score of 6-4 7-6 after an hour and 42 minutes of play.
An uphill start for the Azure who suffers the break in the opening game. Cobolli has three chances to sign the immediate counter-break but Zverev saves and goes up 2-0. In the fourth game, the Roman squandered three more chances to get back into the set, which was then closed by the German on the final 6-4.
In the second partial, it is the serve that dominates with only two break points conceded and canceled by Cobolli. It thus comes down to the tie-break where it is played point to point: the Roman saves a match point on 5-6 but can do nothing on the second, with the German closing 8-6 with a first-set winner.
The German’s second match point is the first to be broken.
This was the second defeat in the space of three weeks for Cobolli against Zverev. The Blue, in fact, had already succumbed to the world number three at the Roland Garros round of 16, played last May 31.
