Marco Cecchinato won the’ASPRIA Tennis Cup – BCS Trophy, ATP Challenger on clay. The’Italian defeated, in the final, Croatian Dino Prizmic, the number 1 on the scoreboard, in two sets (6-2, 63 the match partials).

The semifinalist of the 2018 edition of Roland Garros, who entered the tournament with a wild card, played a perfect tournament, confirming himself at a very high level even in the final where he left no chance for the very young Croatian (class of 2005). Excellent play from the backcourt and continuous changes of pace led Marco Cecchinato to triumph at the Milan tournament a full nine years after his previous success (2016 edition).

“I played really really well. After nine years I am here again to celebrate and it is all thanks to the wild card that was granted to me. I hope this is a starting point for a second career”, the words of Marco Cecchinato himself in the post match.

The almost 33-year-old Marco Cecchinato wanted to thank, in particular, one person for this remarkable return to success that he had been missing for a long time: “I wanted to say thanks especially to Francesco Palpacelli. If I am here, it is thanks to him and the trust he had in me when no one believed in me anymore. Now we will work together to return to the highest level”, the Italian tennis player’s closing remark.
