Settebello gets off to strong start at Singapore World Cup: Romania overwhelmed

The Settebello’s path to the World Championships in Singapore could not have started better. At the Ocbc Aquatic Center, the men’s national water polo team demolished Romania with a clear 17-5 victory in the debut match, valid for the first day of Group A.

After the first quarter closed at a disadvantage (1-2), the vice-world champions completely changed gears in the remaining three quarters, rifling a mega partial 16-3 with which they secured their first victory in the rainbow tournament.

MVP of the match Francesco Condemi, author of four goals. Hat trick for Lorenzo Bruni, doubles for captain Francesco Di Fulvio, Edoardo Di Somma and Francesco Cassia. Filippo Ferrero, Tommaso Gianazza, Matteo Iocchi Gratta and Nicholas Presciutti also scored.

The Azzurri thus fly to the top of Group A, together with three-time Olympic gold medalist Serbia, which they will face on Monday, July 14 at 2:45 p.m. Italian time (8:45 p.m. local time).
