Although universally celebrated by the vast majority of tennis fans and insiders, Jannik Sinner’s success has come under the magnifying glass of a few critics: among them, it has rattled the’unfailing barb from the “usual” Nick Kyrgios, which infuriated fans of the’Alto Adige native, raising the controversy related to the “Clostebol&#8220 case.

Also via social media, openly siding with the’current world No. 1 was taken by another of the tennis players who, in his career, has lifted the London slam winner trophy, Pat Cash. The Australian, a champion at Wimbledon in 1987, entrusted Instagram with his thoughts, in which he takes pains to defend not only Jannik Sinner but also Iga Swiatek, winner of the women’s tournament, who has been hit by similar criticism.

“Sometimes it happens that a player tests positive for doping not because they cheated – Cash explained – and in the case of this year’s winners at Wimbledon it was contamination. They did not cheat to improve performance. They were exonerated in that sense-it is hard to imagine that some people are so uninformed or refuse to acknowledge these facts, yet they continue to insist on this. Let’s just celebrate these champions!”

Jannik Sinner won his fourth career Grand Slam tournament at Wimbledon, following two consecutive successes at the Australian Open, in 2024 and 2025, interspersed with victory at the US Open in 2024. Iga Swiatek also won this year for the first time at Wimbledon, but her total number of Slam tournaments won is six: in fact, the Polish player has also triumphed at Roland Garros four times (2020, 2022, 2023, 2024) and once at Flushing Meadows (2022).
