Big news for the 49th Tour of Lunigiana

Men Caglia

Thirty-five days before the official start, scheduled for September 4, the 49th Giro della Lunigiana has been unveiled, which will start for the first time in its history from Genoa and will end, after five fractions spread over four days, in Terre di Luni. The very estate located in Ameglia was the scene of the official presentation that followed the first institutional act staged two weeks ago at the Press Room of the Chamber of Deputies.

Many guests attended the event: representatives of institutions, sponsors, friends of the race and stage committees. Among them also Stefano Garzelli and Alessandro Petacchi, who will join the voice of Ivan Cecchini in telling the story of the race days.

During the ceremony, the fourth edition of the women’s race was also announced, which will be presented in detail in the coming days.

The ROUTE

04/09 – ROUTE 1, GENOVA-CHIAVARI, 95.4 KM

Historic start from Piazza De Ferrari and transfer to km 0, located in Quarto, in front of the Monument of the Thousand. Fraction entirely in the province of Genoa with three GPMs, including the Scoffera (1st category). Eventful stage profile, with finish in Chiavari as in 2023, when Maxime Decomble won.

05/09 – STAGE 2, LUNI-VEZZANO LIGURE, 96.3 KM

Tough stage with five GPMs. Three passes are planned on the final climb, where the finish will be placed. Historic climbs such as Ortonovo and Montemarcello will also be tackled.

06/09 – ROUTE 3A, EQUI TERME-MARINA DI MASSA, 54.4 KM

Only fraction suitable for fast wheels, devoid of elevation difficulties. Last year the promenade rewarded Belgian Aldo Taillieu.

06/09 – ROUTE 3B, PONTREMOLI-FIVIZZANO, 52.1 KM

Tap entirely in historic Lunigiana, between two iconic localities of the area. Arrival now “classic”, suitable for strong uphill runners with a good fast cue. The last three winners – Lenny Martinez, Paul Magnier and Jarno Widar – are now protagonists on the world stage.

07/09 – ROUTE 4, LA SPEZIA-TERRE DI LUNI, 100.7 KM

Start from the “Picco” stadium and a very challenging course. After an initial passage over the finish line, the climb of Fosdinovo from the side of Castelnovo-Vallecchia, Cima Coppi of the Giro della Lunigiana and home of the Graziano Battistini Trophy will be the toughest climb of the 2025 edition.
