Superbasket: the helm passes from Dan Peterson to Piero Guerrini

Superbasket announces an important change in editorial leadership: Piero Guerrini is the new editor, succeeding Dan Peterson, an iconic figure in Italian basketball and sports communication. Dan Peterson, who led Superbasket for eleven years, has directed the title with passion, competence and charisma, helping to further strengthen its reputation on the national and international basketball scene.

“On behalf of the entire editorial staff and the publisher, a heartfelt thank you goes out to Dan for his extraordinary commitment, for the editorial vision he has been able to imprint on the magazine and for the authenticity with which he has chronicled basketball over all these years,” reads the note issued Saturday.
Piero Guerrini, a longtime sports journalist who for decades has reported on major international events of the most important disciplines, but since he was a boy he has been inextricably linked to the world of basketball, of which he has been an authoritative signature since the late 1980s.

Guerrini takes the helm of the newspaper with the’goal of combining tradition and innovation by expanding basketball coverage while also focusing on new digital formats to dialogue with an increasingly large and involved community. “Italian basketball must regain a primary role in the sports scene and not only at the level of results. I am honored by the choice made by the publisher and happy to be able to contribute again to the telling of a unique story,” says Guerrini.

The new course officially kicked off on October 1: the next issue of the magazine will hit newsstands in about a week.
