F1, Mercedes: George Russell goes down hard on budget cap Red Bull
Mercedes driver hopes for appropriate punishment
Mercedes driver George Russell spoke at the press conference ahead of the Grand Prix at Japan’s Suzuka circuit and returned to the budget cap case, whose verdict has been postponed until Monday, October 10.
“I will sit back and wait to see what the results will be on Monday, but I just know that, thanks to our experience in Mercedes, the whole team has worked hard to stay within the spending limits. I trust that Mohammed ben Sulayem and the FIA will impose an appropriate punishment on whoever is found guilty of the charges made. The amount that was exceeded is expected to be the amount deducted for next year’s budget and probably a bit more as punishment. But let’s wait and see,” the Briton said, unabashedly.
