Frederic Vasseur overcomes criticism but reveals the main problem

Frederic Vasseur took stock of the situation with the American magazine The Athletic: “I have been in the sport for 30 years now and I knew perfectly well that I would be exposed to criticism, that it would rain down on me…a”.
“The attacks over the weekend in Montreal? They really didn’t hurt the team, although in the end these are very negative things for us. I knew I would have to live with the pressure, because it is part of the DNA of F1, but I think there is already enough pressure on the track so that we don’t have to experience any when we are at home. We already know very well that there is a need to bring home results. The newspapers? I don’t read them, I don’t even watch TV, I only know what I get from the press office. And I’m fine with that. However, this is the past and we are focused on the future.”
“I think the biggest problem is that we missed some good opportunities. On a weekend like Baku, for example, we had the pace to do much, much better. But that’s the way it went, however, we need to pay much more attention to execution in order to have a good weekend.”
“All teams fluctuate between highs and lows, although I would say that when they have bad weekends they are still there in the fight, whereas when they do well, then they practically fly. However, there is no magic button, and when you have a big problem at the beginning of a weekend then you end up losing the correct path and then you have to play it safe in terms of set-up, losing a little bit of confidence and all that.”
