Milan market, another French goalkeeper if Mike Maignan does not sign

Guillaume Restes, Toulouse’s 2005 class goalkeeper, is among the Ligue 1 revelations. And he is being seriously considered by Milan, should they fail to square off with Mike Maignan. Born on March 11 in Toulouse itself, the young defender, a compatriot of the current Rossoneri goalkeeper, started playing soccer in the suburb of Montaudran before joining the club’s Academy when he was only six years old.
Toulouse believed in him early on, bringing him into the first team and signing him to his first professional contract. Today, Restes is being noted for his maturity, personality, and technical ability between the posts.
No white smoke, meanwhile, on the Mike Maignan front. The Milan goalkeeper, class of ’95, is asking for a top player’s salary: he currently earns 2.8 million euros net per season, but aims to double that. Negotiations with the Rossoneri club continue in alternating stages and, at the moment, have not led to an agreement.
Various European bigwigs remain at the window. Chelsea has already expressed interest, but Juventus is also watching closely, especially because of Luciano Spalletti’s appreciation of the French goalkeeper and a few too many uncertainties from Michele Di Gregorio.
The Milanese club has already expressed interest.
A.C. Milan, now competitive again with Allegri at the helm, has already identified other possible replacements, along with Restes: there is talk of Zion Suzuki (Parma), whose quotations would, however, be on the decline, Noah Atubolu (Freiburg), who is also liked by Inter Milan, and Alex Meret, who has been relegated again in Antonio Conte’s hierarchies in Naples.
The priority, in the Rossoneri’s house, remains clear: to retain Maignan. In case of a farewell, the Premier League remains the most likely destination, with multiple clubs interested in addition to Chelsea, which has been courting him for some time.
