Atalanta market: Raffaele Palladino decisive for Ademola Lookman’s future

Atalanta soccer market: Ademola Lookman is back at the center of attention in negotiations after the long summer soap opera, the failed transfer to Inter’s and the troubled stay in Bergamo. In the meantime, the doors of the Orobic club have in fact been knocked on by Atletico Madrid, with a possible offer that could come close to the gigantic figure of 60 million euros. January is still relatively far away, however, and after the problems with Gian Piero Gasperini in the finale of last season and those with Ivan Juric in the current one, it will now be Raffaele Palladino&#8217s job to try to revive the player by helping the management keep his value high.

It is no mystery that Bergamo has received Lookman&#8217s expressed desire to leave rather badly, especially after his crucial role in winning the historic 2024 Europa League. The extremely tense climate had calmed down with the player’s gradual reintegration into the team until his decisive goal at AC Milan. The last few weeks, however, have again complicated the picture.

Excluded from the lineup that faced Juventus, Lookman was often chosen by Juric as a starter in the following weeks. This was the case in Marseille, for example, when Atalanta won against Olympique. On that occasion, however, the Nigerian had an altercation with his coach at the time of substitution, stirring things up again.

Palladino will now therefore have the task of ferrying Lookman to the winter months, with the goal of getting him to accumulate minutes and goals. In December, in fact, the striker will leave Bergamo in any case, joining his Nigeria for the African Cup of Nations. If relations have calmed down in the meantime, both his eventual stay in the Nerazzurri and the possible sale will be easier. If not, Atalanta could find itself dealing with a new soap opera that would not be in the club&#8217s interest, nor that of its currently most valuable player. And who risks seeing, over time, the value of his own tag plummet dangerously.
