Both Bari and Sampdoria are among the Serie B clubs that will be looking to improve their rosters when the soccer market reopens. Two clubs that have often been protagonists in the top division (the blucerchiati even won the scudetto in the 1990-91 season, with Mantovani as president, Boskov on the bench and phenomena on the field such as Mancini and Vialli) but are now struggling greatly in the cadetteria: in the last round, by the way, both Pugliese and Ligurians lost, respectively to Empoli (very heavy 5-0 for Dionisi’s Tuscans) and La Spezia (1-0 for Donadoni’s whites in the derby).

On the list of Bari and Samp is the name Mattia Valoti, who is not finding space at Cremonese under Davide Nicola and therefore will once again pack his bags in January. For some time there has been talk of an interest from the Ligurian side and already in the past there has been talk of the ‘Galletti,’ where among other things the son of art (his father Aladino played in Serie A with Atalanta, in whose nursery he grew up, and in Piacenza) would find Christian Gytkjaer, a protagonist three years ago like him of the historic promotion of Monza, then targato Adriano Galliani and Silvio Berlusconi and able to cross a goal never surpassed in over a hundred years of history.

They were the first team to promote Valoti.

That Monza was led by Giovanni Stroppa, who last January had wanted Valoti back with him in the grigiorosso: having taken Cremonese to A, however, the former Milan fantasist was dismissed for good (he had already been replaced by Eugenio Corini during the cadet tournament, only to be wisely recalled) and then agreed to join Venezia. Valoti, who just turned 32, has not yet set foot on the field in A with Nicola’s team, but in the past he has been a protagonist in the top division with Hellas Verona and Spal in addition to the Brianzoli. Now he is ready for a new adventure.

On Thursday, Bari will play at home to Juve Stabia in the rematch and then, on the following Monday, host another team in great difficulty, bottom-of-the-table Pescara. Samp, which has one point more than the Abruzzesi, will receive at the Ferraris on Sunday a Carrarese team seeking redemption after the mauling in Palermo (5-0 to Pippo Inzaghi’s Rosanero).
