In mid-December there’s been the unexpected split between Juan Carlos Ferrero and Carlos Alcaraz: the two were preparing next season together and there had been no hint of a possible divorce: “As in all contracts, one side pulls in one direction and the other in another. Carlos’ entourage thinks about what is best for him, and mine thinks about what is best for me. There were some issues on which both sides disagreed. Maybe they could have been resolved if we had sat down and talked, but in the end we didn”t and we decided not to continue together” Ferrero told Marca a few days ago.

The divorce between the Spanish coach and Carlos Alcaraz has fueled rumors about the possible collaboration between Ferrero and Jannik Sinner. Interviewed by The Northeast, Jasmine Paolini’s former coach Renzo Furlan dismissed the’idea: “Anything is possible but I honestly don&#8217t see two personalities that would go so well together. Ferrero is overly rigid, Darren Cahill and Simone Vagnozzi, on the other hand, work perfectly because they are two great communicators, they are empathetic and leave Sinner his space”.

They are both great communicators.

Furlan then had his say on the situation in men’s tennis. Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz are destined to dominate for many more years but surprises should not be ruled out: “Rune, class of 2003, despite the serious injury he suffered will be back at a high level, like Musetti he is a potential No. 3. Then there is Fonseca, the Brazilian, who will come sooner or later but I do not know where and Mensik who won the 1000 in Miami. So to answer the question the dominance of Sinner and Alcaraz will not last only in 2026 but for another two or three years”.

The’former coach of Jasmine Paolini then continued on Jannik Sinner: “When he said after the Us Open that his game needed to become more unpredictable he meant many things: to be more aggressive, to have more flair, more depth, to use bunt and back more often to break the rhythm. He is doing that and will continue to do so, I am sure”.

“I am sure that at Roland Garros we will see him with the knife between his teeth because it is the only Slam he is missing and he really wants to complete his palmares. But he will try to get the best everywhere”. Jannik Sinner’s goals also include the Rome Internationals: the last victory by an Italian was in 1976, when Adriano Panatta overcame Argentine Guillermo Vilas in the final.
