After a complicated experience at Bayern Munich, João Palhinha last summer moved to Tottenham on an onerous loan with a redemption option set at around 30 million euros. The return to the Premier League has greatly helped the Portuguese midfielder, who has been among Spurs’ best in this first half despite the team’s difficulties.

During an interview granted to the BBC, Palhinha spoke clearly about his future: “When I moved to Bayern I did not expect to return to England so quickly but when the Tottenham opportunity presented itself I did not think too much about it. The Premier League is a special league for me, I feel that my characteristics fit perfectly with this type of game”.

“I don&#8220t think you can compare the Premier League to any other league. You always miss it when you leave because it has something really special – continued the champion -Everybody in the world watches the Premier League and the teams are probably the most competitive on the planet. The truth is that I did not want to leave Bayern because I had only been there for one season and I wanted to prove my value and my abilities but at the same time I felt I needed to play”.

The Portuguese champion then spoke about the difficulties he encountered in Germany: “At Bayern Munich I experienced probably the most difficult period of my career so far. I expected to play more when I arrived there but after the injury it was not easy for me to find the right opportunities and in the end I decided to move”.

João Palhinha&#8217s stay at Tottenham is closely linked to the choice the club will make regarding the coach: Thomas Franck holds the Portuguese in high esteem but it is not certain that he will remain on the English club&#8217s bench again given the poor results so far. If Spurs decide to hire a new coach, he will be the one to decide whether to keep Palhinha or instead send him back to Bayern Munich.
